Dark, Deadly Love

Dark, Deadly Love

A haunted man.

A slayer without remorse…

Orphaned and penniless, Alexandra arrives in London to become Sir Ross Ravenwood’s ward. Once, she trusted him with knowledge of her empathic gift. Now he is a haunted man, with a dark edge that intrigues her—and fuels terrifying dreams.

Alexandra is a fresh bloom in Ross’s shadowed life, but even his soul-burning desire for her won’t drive him to reveal frightening dreams that he is a street-stalking murderer. When a young servant’s deadly secret brings them face to face with a relentless menace—whose blade is aimed straight for their hearts—only complete trust will save them...
Alexandra Watson is too tall, too opinionated, too American. Too everything for London society—and for Sir Ross Havenwood. Once she dreamed of being his wife, but when she steps off the ship, alone in the world and destitute, it’s with the knowledge Ross only feels an obligation to protect her as his ward. Her empathic abilities tell her that the one man she once trusted is haunted by a dangerous edge. That edge intrigues her…and fuels dreams of murder too brutal to share. Ross’s life has been a series of missteps. A military career that destroyed his wife. A superficial society he disdains but must endure—along with premonitions he must keep to himself. Alexandra is a sweet, bright bloom in his shadowed life and desire for her burns his soul. Yet if he reveals dreams in which he is a killer, even she will think him mad. Then the stubborn Alexandra insists on sheltering a young servant who harbors a deadly secret. A secret that will bring them both face-to-face with a relentless menace whose razor-sharp blade is aimed at their hearts…

Warning: Beware of finding yourself deeply entrenched in the East End of London in 1888 with a seriously hot aristocrat!

Before the Dawn

A fallen woman must decide to stay down, or rise and fight…

Elijah McKinnon has been found innocent of a heinous murder, but it doesn’t erase the hellish years in prison he endured. He boards the train to Pittsburgh a changed man, certain he will never feel free until he’s wreaked revenged on the brother that ruined his life.

The passenger who catches his eye is intriguing, but he’s seen her kind before. The kind who puts on airs—and looks down on Irishmen. Still, he can’t seem to stop himself from stepping between her and a pack of ruthless cads.

Mary Jane Lawson is grateful for the handsome stranger’s help, but her journey has a higher purpose: to rise above her shattered reputation and declare her independence, come flood or famine. Propriety says she should refuse Elijah’s suggestion they pose as husband and wife—for her own protection, of course. Her practical side says it won’t hurt to pretend, just this once.

Come nightfall, though, their little charade must be carried all the way to shared sleeping quarters, where their vulnerabilities become painfully clear. And when danger past and present threatens, trusting each other becomes a matter of life and death.

Warning: A hot Irish accent mixed with high adventure may cause combustion. Beware of falling for this hunk. The heroine says he’s hers!

MY REVIEW:  "Before the Dawn" is an exciting and passionate historical romance from author Denise A. Agnew. When Elijah McKinnon is released from his unjust imprisonment, the only thing on his mind is revenge against the brother who murdered Elijah's fiancee and let Elijah take the blame. While traveling on a train in search of his murderous brother Amos, Elijah meets Mary Jane Lawson, a young woman alone and in need of his protection. Elijah and Mary Jane soon find themselves posing as husband and wife, and their journey becomes much more complex and filled with unexpected attraction and temptation. They both have reasons to guard their hearts, but mutual need and sweet, sensual awareness will change their minds and their lives forever. "Before the Dawn" is a well-paced, entertaining, and very satisfying romance read. I look forward to reading more historical romances from Denise A. Agnew!

MY REVIEW:  "Clandestine", by Denise A. Agnew, is a terrific paranormal romantic suspense adventure, featuring an awesome Alpha hero! As a top agent for the SIA (Special Investigations Agency), Grey O'Toole is tough, buff and "rough around the edges". He has only one weakness--the woman whose voice has driven him wild for ten years. Dorcas "Dorky" Shannigan is the information operative who keeps the SIA informed about dangerous paranormal forces. She and Grey have always had a great phone friendship, and through the years a deep personal bond has formed. When they finally meet in person, their physical attraction is hot enough to almost incinerate the SIA building! Grey and Dorky soon find themselves on the run and on mission of vital importance to world security. Dorky has many hidden secrets, and she fears that Grey may turn away from her once all is revealed. Grey's painful childhood made him into a "no commitment" kind of guy, but Dorky's combination of strength, vulnerability, and beauty has him turned inside out. He follows her into a world unlike anything he has ever experienced, trying to comprehend that Dorky comes from this strange world. It will take all of his superior skill as an agent to keep himself and the woman he loves safe from the overwhelming evil of the villainous paranormal force. Dorky gives her heart and her complete trust to Grey, sharing more of herself than she has ever given to anyone. Who could resist a six-foot-three auburn-haired Alpha hunk with expressive grey eyes? Not me--I surrender!!!
