"Citrus: Sweet and Savory Sun-Kissed Recipes", by noted cookbook author and food stylist Valerie Aikman-Smith, lets the sun shine in!

Citrus: Sweet and Savory Sun-Kissed Recipes

A visually stunning collection of 75 inventive, foolproof recipes that highlight the sunny ingredient of citrus, from the ubiquitous lemon, lime, and orange to the more obscure kumquat and yuzu.

A love for all things citrus is chronicled in this elegant collection of recipes that feature every common and exotic type of citrus--from Pixies and Eureka lemons to Valencia oranges and kumquats. Accessible yet sophisticated dishes including Grapefruit and Gin Marmalade, Tangerine Sticky Ribs, and Burnt Sugar Lemon Tart highlight the versatility of their juicy ingredients: zest the skin to make salt, peel the skin and candy it, cut up the flesh and add it to salads or bake it with roast duck. Photographer Victoria Pearson and food stylist and author Valerie Aikman-Smith capture the beauty of citrus at the market, on the plate, and in the colorful citrus groves surrounding Victoria's house. Lushly illustrated, Citrus will entice readers into their kitchens to fully savor winter's bounty.

MY REVIEW:  Small in stature, but bursting with big, bright flavor, "Citrus: Sweet and Savory Sun-Kissed Recipes" lets the sun shine in! Noted cookbook author and food stylist Valerie Aikman-Smith and renowned photographer Victoria Pearson have combined their considerable skills and resources into this fresh and fabulous homage to fruits known as "citrus". These wonderfully flavored and scented fruits with their bright appeal are a treat for all the senses. Versatile and nurturing, citrus fruits add so much goodness to recipes and other applications. Many of the fruits featured here are familiar favorites, but there is also the intrigue and discovery of lesser-known varieties. Beautifully photographed and well-thought out, the book is segmented by the type of citrus and also by the meal course: Breakfast, Starters, Mains, Salads/Soups/Sides, Desserts, Drinks, and Pantry Staples. The 75 recipes that are included shine a spotlight on lemons, oranges, tangerines, grapefruits, and limes, as well as more exotic varieties such as kumquats, pomelos, Buddha's hand, and yuzu.
