"HER DETECTIVE'S SECRET INTENT"--awesome author TARA TAYLOR QUINN celebrates her 90TH PUBLISHED BOOK--a thrilling contemporary romantic suspense tale that also brings awareness of the tragedy of domestic abuse

Her Detective's Secret Intent (Where Secrets Are Safe, #16)

He’s not the man she thinks he is…

And everything he knows about her is a lie!

On the run with her young son, Miranda Blake must stay off the grid. That means she can’t tell her would-be protector why she’s fleeing her secret past. Just the same, Detective Tad Newberry can’t tell Miranda why he’s protecting her. Just as the two start falling in love, shocking truths explode their fragile trust.

MY REVIEW:  Wonderful writer Tara Taylor Quinn is celebrating her 90th Published Book--"Her Detective's Secret Intent". I am celebrating with her, and I look forward to many more terrific reads from this awesome author! Detective Tad Newberry is on administrative leave and recovering from wounds received from an explosion during a hostage situation "gone wrong". He had saved the life of a little girl, but he had acted on instinct and disregarded protocol, and now he is under investigation by his department's Internal Affairs. His home base is in North Carolina, but he is "visiting" Santa Raquel, CA--helping a "High Risk Team"--individuals from various professions who share domestic violation information to protect in-danger adults and children. He is also privately working for a high-ranking NC state official who is searching for his own daughter and grandson with hopes for a family reunion. The man claims that his daughter was abused by her husband and that she fled with her son. Miranda Blake is a PA--Physicians Assistant--who works with the High Risk Team, and she is all too aware of the harsh realities of domestic violence. Having lived a guarded life of constant vigilance for so long in order to protect her young son, Ethan, and herself, Miranda is wary of giving in to the sizzling attraction and mutual regard she feels with Tad Newberry. What's between them is real, but the untruths surrounding their relationship are a ticking time bomb. Miranda cannot bring herself to tell Tad her true, complete story, and he is not free to tell her that he was hired by her father to track her down and observe her daily life with her son. The lies that are looming large will eventually ignite, and the aftermath will bring great peril to all. Is the burgeoning love between Miranda and Tad, and the affection he feels for her son, enough not only to keep them alive, but to guide them toward a shining future filled with happiness? Will the bright light of the truth help to vanquish the lingering, ugly darkness of abuse? "Her Detective's Secret Intent" is Book #16 in Tara Taylor Quinn's "Where Secrets Are Safe Series" which is set around "The Lemonade Stand"--a women's shelter.

***SPECIAL NOTE***

Almost all of us know someone who is an abuse victim. We ourselves may be that victim. Abuse taints and tortures not only the immediate victim, but also others in the surrounding vicinity. Its effects are endless. Ripples upon ripples on the sea of life. I would like to commend author Tara Taylor Quinn for choosing to write about abuse and its lasting, widespread effects–not just on the victim, but on those who care for the victim. All of us, whether we realize it or not, know someone who has been abused at some point in their life. The first reaction to abuse is denial. The subject of abuse is one that many people turn away from because it makes them uncomfortable. The victims often linger in a very painful silence. Writing about it may encourage someone who is a victim to seek help. Acknowledgement is not only a first step, it’s a giant leap!

Tara Taylor Quinn

Tara Taylor Quinn began her love affair with Harlequin when she was fourteen years old and picked up a free promotional copy of a Harlequin Romance in a hometown grocery store. The relationship was solidified the year she was suspended from her high school typing class for hiding a Harlequin Romance behind the keys of her electric typewriter. Unaware that her instructor loomed close by, Ms. Quinn read blissfully on with one finger resting on the automatic repeating period key. She finished the book in the principal’s office. Forced to leave her romances in her locker after that, Ms. Quinn’s typing skills improved - a fact for which she is eternally grateful.

With 90 original novels, published in more than twenty languages, Tara Taylor Quinn is a USA Today bestselling author with more than seven million copies sold. She is a winner of the 2008 National Reader's Choice Award, four time finalist for the RWA Rita Award, a finalist for the Reviewer’s Choice Award, the Bookseller’s Best Award, the Holt Medallion and appears regularly on the Waldenbooks bestsellers list. Ms. Quinn writes for Harlequin and MIRA Books. Reviewer, Cindy Penn, wordweaving.com says, “Amazing character development is the hallmark of author Tara Taylor Quinn’s work. Indeed, Taylor’s profound observations of human nature and intimate understanding of values and priorities lends extraordinary psychological depth to all her work.”

Tara Taylor Quinn was born and raised in Ohio. Though she wrote her first story at the age of seven, her professional writing career began ten years later when she was hired as a stringer with the Dayton Daily News in Dayton, Ohio. She attended Wright State University and graduated from Harding College in Arkansas with a degree in English and Journalism. She published several magazine articles before turning to writing as a full-time occupation.

Ms. Quinn is a Past President of the Romance Writers of America and served for eight years on the Board of Directors of that association. She has a wide range of experience as a public speaker and workshop presenter for writers groups around the country.

When she’s not home with her owners, Jerry Lee and Taylor Marie, or fulfilling speaking engagements, Tara loves to travel with her husband, stopping wherever the spirit takes them. They’ve been spotted in casinos and quaint little small town antique shops all across the country...
