Former pararescue jumper Orion Starr is haunted by the memory of a rescue gone wrong. He may be living alone in Alaska now, but the pain of his failure--and his injuries--has followed him there from Afghanistan. He has no desire to join Hamilton Jones's elite rescue team, but he also can't shirk his duty when the call comes in to rescue three lost climbers on Denali.

Former CIA profiler and psychiatrist Jenny Calhoun's yearly extreme challenge with her best friends is her only escape from the guilt that has sunk its claws into her. As a consultant during a top-secret mission to root out the Taliban, she green-lighted an operation that ended in ambush and lives lost. When her cathartic climb on Denali turns deadly, she'll be forced to trust her life and the lives of her friends to the most dangerous of heroes--the man she nearly killed.

Her skills and his experience are exactly what's needed to prevent another tragedy--but in order to truly set Orion free from his painful past, Jenny will have to reveal hers. They'll have to put their wounds behind them to survive, but at what cost?

Jake Silver may not be able to put the memories of his time as a sniper and Navy SEAL behind him, but at least he can put his skills to use as a part of the Jones Inc. rescue team. Saving the life of pediatric heart surgeon Dr. Aria Sinclair on Denali helped too. Now he can't get her out of his head, and when he hears she is in the path of a hurricane down in Key West he can't help but jump on a plane to rescue her.

Aria has dedicated her life to helping children born with defective hearts. After all, she was one of those children. Now driven to succeed, she lives a lonely, stressful life. One she would have lost on Denali if it hadn't been for Jake. Jake is exciting and handsome, but he's also dangerous, and she's already lost one person she loves. She can't bear it again.

It's not until she finds herself trapped in the middle of a category 4 hurricane that she can admit she needs Jake desperately. With their very survival in the balance, can they hope for a second chance at life . . . and love?

MY REVIEW:  Author Susan May Warren continues her contemporary romantic suspense "Global Search and Rescue Series" with Book Two, "The Heart of a Hero". Jake Silver, former Navy SEAL and skilled sniper, is haunted by his military past. In more ways than one, facing danger and death takes a toll on a man--in body and in spirit. After his military service comes to a close, Jake makes good use of his very special skills by working for Hamilton Jones's top-rung rescue team. One of the missions involved saving Dr. Ana Sinclair and others during a mountain climb gone very wrong. Jake has never forgotten Ana and their "almost" romantic involvement. Seeing her again, he is still interested, but is she? When Ana is once more in the middle of a perilous situation, Jake hurries to help her, but should she risk her heart when he comes to save her life? If they survive the looming threat of a catastrophic hurricane, can the feelings between them also survive?

She's ready to give her life for her country, and she can hardly expect Ham to rescue her after breaking his heart over and over.

When Ham discovers the reason Signe has kept her distance, he must choose between love for his wife and love for the nation he has vowed to protect. Will he save the many? Or the few?

USA Today bestselling author Susan May Warren takes you on a global search and rescue mission where the stakes are higher than ever in this final installment of her popular series.

MY REVIEW:  Author Susan May Warren concludes her thrilling, action-packed "Global Search and Rescue" romantic suspense series with Book Three, "The Price of Valor". Hamilton "Ham" Jones is an honorable man, a former Navy SEAL, deeply patriotic, and a man of unshakeable, abiding faith. He would do anything to protect his country and those he loved. He founded his "Global Search and Rescue" agency to help those in need around the world. His team members were an elite group of highly-skilled warriors who were always ready to take on any assignment--no matter how high the risk. However, Ham's latest rescue mission is very, very personal--he wants to bring his wife, Signe, home. Having thought his wife dead for a decade, Ham had been recently stunned to learn that not only was Signe still alive--he had a daughter, Aggie, as well. Taken prisoner while working as an interpreter in the Ukraine, Signe had covertly sent intel back to the States while in captivity. When the situation takes a deadly turn, Signe finds a way to get Aggie to safety with Ham, but she warns Ham to stay away from Signe herself. Ham knows this will be the most important rescue of his life--he will be saving the love of his life and bringing his newfound family together. But what is the price of valor? How much must they sacrifice for love of country and love of each other? With a great leap of faith, and much faith in one another, can they stop terror in its tracks and start a new life as a united family? "Global Search and Rescue" is an exciting and involving series with memorable characters and compelling story lines. Highly recommended for lovers of inspirational romantic suspense.
