From author JODI THOMAS--"The Little Teashop on Main" and "Mornings on Main"--heartfelt, touching contemporary women's fiction will resonate with readers (see my reviews)

The Little Teashop on Main

A rainy-day ritual--a tea party between three little girls--becomes the framework of not only their friendship, but their lives.

Blonde, curly-haired Zoe is openhearted, kind and free-spirited, and dreams of becoming a famous actor in New York City. Shy Emily struggles with mental health but has the heart and soul of a writer. And Shannon--tall, athletic, strong--has a deep sense of loyalty that will serve her well when she heads off to military college. As Zoe, Emily and Shannon grow into women--forging careers, following dreams and finding love--they'll learn that life doesn't always unfold the way they want it to, but through it all, the one constant is each other, and their regular tea parties. And when the unthinkable happens, the girls must come together to face the greatest test of all.

A deeply moving novel about the family that raises us, the hearts that nurture us and the great friendships that define our lives.

MY REVIEW:   As a longtime fan of Jodi Thomas, it gives me much pleasure as a reader to say that her storytelling gets better and better with each book. With "The Little Teashop on Main", she takes readers back to small town Laurel Springs, Texas, and we get to meet three little girls as they grow into women who never forget to partake of their ritual "Forever Tea". Hopes and dreams are shared as "tea" is poured, and lasting friendships as strong as sisterhood are formed. Zoe, blonde and buoyant, has stars in her eyes and wishes for an acting career in New York City. The shy, inwardly struggling Emily knows the words of a writer at heart. Loyal, athletic Shannon follows in her father's footsteps and enters military college. Though the years will take them in different, often unexpected directions, the memories of childhood days and sweet teas will carry them through and fortify them when unthinkable Fate comes to call. "The Little Teashop on Main" is beautifully-realized women's fiction from master storyteller Jodi Thomas.

Mornings on Main

From the beloved and bestselling author of the Ransom Canyon and Harmony, Texas series comes a powerful, heartwarming story about generations of family and the ironclad bonds they forge.

When Jillian James lands in the small town Texas community of Laurel Springs, she's definitely not planning to stay--except to find a few clues about the father who abandoned her and destroyed her faith in family.

Connor Larady is a single dad, and the only one caring for his grandmother, Eugenia, who has Alzheimer's. And now he has to close Eugenia's quilt shop. When Connor meets down-on-her-luck Jillian, he's out of options. Can he trust the newcomer to do right by his grandmother's legacy?

Jillian is done with relationships. But as she grows closer to Connor and Eugenia, she must consider giving up her nomadic life for a future with those who need her.

An inspiring family saga that asks us to consider what love and chosen family really mean.

MY REVIEW:  One of my favorite authors, Jodi Thomas, has a special way of telling a story: She layers characterizations, builds her settings and story lines, and then adds moments that you don't see coming. With "Mornings on Main", she has written a sweetly poignant contemporary romance that once again reminds us to expect that life will never be exactly what is expected. It's either less than we hoped, or more than we imagined. Jillian James finds herself in small town Laurel Springs, Texas with little more than a whisper of hope to discover information about her complicated family history. Helping single dad Connor Larady close out his grandmother Eugenia's quilt shop in a proper manner becomes more complex with each passing day. Connor is dealing with the onset of Eugenia's Alzheimer's Disease and the troubles of his teen-aged daughter, Sunnie. He is also the mayor and runs the local newspaper. He takes care of others more than he takes care of himself, but something about Jillian makes him want more of everything for himself. Jillian hadn't planned on staying, but day-by-day, she is becoming more a part of three generations of the Larady family. Family is what she has always wanted, but is this a dream she can grasp--or will it stay just out of her reach? "Mornings on Main" is a lovely, touching romantic tale from wonderful writer Jodi Thomas.
