Golden in Death (In Death, #50)
In the latest thriller in the
#1 New York Times bestselling series, homicide detective Eve Dallas
investigates a murder with a mysterious motive―and a terrifying weapon.
Pediatrician Kent Abner received the package on a beautiful April morning. Inside was a cheap trinket, a golden egg that could be opened into two halves. When he pried it apart, highly toxic airborne fumes entered his body―and killed him.
After Eve Dallas calls the hazmat team―and undergoes testing to reassure both her and her husband that she hasn’t been exposed―it’s time to look into Dr. Abner’s past and relationships. Not every victim Eve encounters is an angel, but it seems that Abner came pretty close―though he did ruffle some feathers over the years by taking stands for the weak and defenseless. While the lab tries to identify the deadly toxin, Eve hunts for the sender. But when someone else dies in the same grisly manner, it becomes clear that she’s dealing with either a madman―or someone who has a hidden and elusive connection to both victims.
"Robb cleverly celebrates the golden anniversary, so to speak, of her legendary Eve Dallas series. In the book itself she proves definitively that she has the golden touch when it comes seamlessly fusing danger-spiked plots, propulsive pacing, and a sexy partnership between a tough-as-nails heroine and the man of mystery who complements her in the best possible fashion." - Booklist

In Death Series
The "In Death" series, written by Nora Roberts under her pseudonym J.D.
Robb, features NYPSD ("New York City Police and Security Department")
Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke and is set in a mid-21st
century New York City. The stories also regularly feature other
characters, including Captain Ryan Feeney, Detective Delia Peabody,
Detective Ian McNab and Dr. Charlotte Mira.
The series is ongoing and will go on as long as Roberts desires to write it; however, she has famously stated that the series will never contain one of Eve and Roarke's children, as the series will end with Eve's eventual pregnancy—which is nowhere in sight at the current count.
Please note: Each book in this series is a whole story with a beginning and an ending, however there may be minor references to events that occurred earlier in the series. Therefore, with respect to the mystery alone, the books can be read out of order, if desired. However, like any long series that focuses on a core group of characters, there are various relationship changes that develop more naturally when the full length novels are read in the order in which they were published.

Naked in Death (In Death #1)
Here is the novel that started it all- the first book in J.D. Robb's number-one New York Times-bestselling In Death series, featuring New York homicide detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas and Roarke.
It is the year 2058, and technology now completely rules the world. But New York City Detective Eve Dallas knows that the irresistible impulses of the human heart are still ruled by just one thing: passion.
When a senator's daughter is killed, the secret life of prostitution she'd been leading is revealed. The high-profile case takes Lieutenant Eve Dallas into the rarefied circles of Washington politics and society. Further complicating matters is Eve's growing attraction to Roarke, who is one of the wealthiest and most influential men on the planet, devilishly handsome... and the leading suspect in the investigation.
