Collateral Damage

Honorably discharged from the Army after an explosion nearly killed her, former military psychiatrist Brooke Adams has set up shop to help others—but her days of helping military personnel are over. She's got her own battles to fight from her time overseas, and she's not equipped to take on more. Former Army Special Ops Sergeant First Class Asher James could handle anything that war sent his way—terrorists, bombs, bullets. The only thing that scares him now is sleep. As the shadows close in, the nightmares begin.

Finally convinced that he needs help, Asher makes an appointment with a counselor, and Brooke is pressed by her boss to take him on. When he arrives at her office she isn't there—but a dead body is. Brooke is devastated when she walks in, and Asher is a conveniently strong shoulder to cry on. But she can't take him on as a client after sharing such an intimate and unprofessional moment, can she? And he's not sure he can handle sharing his deepest fears with such a beautiful woman.

When it becomes clear that Brooke was the real target of the attack—and that her secrets go even deeper than his own—Asher vows to protect her no matter what

MY REVIEW:  "Acceptable Risk" is Book Two in author Lynette Eason's thrilling inspirational romantic suspense series, "Danger Never Sleeps". Sarah Denning is a military journalist serving as a guest instructor at a school in the Middle East. When terrorists capture her and a young teacher and twelve female students, the situation is grim, and there is only a slim chance of survival. Sarah's father, a high-ranking member of the US Army, calls in Gavin Black, a former Army Ranger now working as a private security agent, to rescue Sarah and the girls. Sarah is painfully estranged from her father, and she and Gavin once briefly dated--now she is stunned to have been saved by the actions of these two men working together. Just as they prepare to return stateside, they receive the devastating news that Sarah's younger brother, who had been suffering from PTSD, has committed suicide. Sarah doesn't believe that her brother took his own life, and when she and Gavin begin their own investigation, they discover other similar cases of supposed suicide. Working side-by-side under such emotional circumstances brings Sarah and Gavin closer together, but can they survive the danger around them and find future happiness with one another? "Acceptable Risk" is highly recommended for lovers of fast-paced, involving romantic suspense.

MY REVIEW  Continuing her thrilling "Danger Never Sleeps Series", author Lynette Eason offers readers another suspenseful read with "Active Defense". Months after returning from active duty as a field surgeon in Afghanistan, Dr. Heather Fountaine still has nightmares after witnessing a bomb explode while strapped to a teen boy walking through their military compound. Despite her best efforts as a surgeon, the young man died. Now that Heather was stateside, in Greenville, SC, she couldn't escape her dark memories or the feeling of being stalked. After an evening out spent with friends, Heather returns home to find her house vandalized and a chilling threat against her friends left behind. Hoping to put some distance between her and the stalker, Heather heads to a small-town hideaway with only a brief message to her friends, who are quite concerned. Travis Walker, who has his own security business, is a friend who hopes for something more with Heather, and now his protective instincts are on high alert. He tracks Heather down in time to save her life--barely escaping with his own. As the feelings between them begin to grow, the danger around them escalates as well. In order to dream of a safe and happy future with one another, they must work together to solve the mystery and end the deadly threat. Heather and Travis each have their own personal issues to overcome, but with love, faith, and care, they will find their way to a lifetime filled with promise.
