When federal agent Aaron Yazzie is assigned to protect the only witness to a drug cartel execution, he hides Kailyn Eudailey in the safest place he knows . . . the vast, untamed wilderness of the Navajo Reservation.

Transporting Kailyn to New Mexico may not be as easy as Aaron would like. Kailyn is a high-maintenance Southern belle who is determined to assert her independence at every step. Although Aaron's job is to protect her from the dangers that could get them both killed, Kailyn is getting to him. As an undercover agent, Aaron has grown adept at playing many roles. But will he be able to embrace his true identity and God's plan for his life in order to keep Kailyn alive?

MY REVIEW:  "Under a Turquoise Sky" is an involving, inspiring romantic suspense tale from author Lisa Carter. Aaron Yazzie, known as Rafael Chavez in his guise as an undercover FBI agent, had a tough beginning in life, one he had never forgotten. Despite the love and spiritual teaching of his adoptive parents, bitterness ran deep in him over all he had seen and experienced. The last thing he needed or wanted was to be saddled with safeguarding a federal witness until she could testify against the drug king who had murdered her friend--the drug lord's own wife--before her eyes. Kailyn Eudailey is a spirited, blonde and beautiful southern belle from a privileged background. She and Aaron appear to be extreme opposites, barely able to tolerate each other, yet stuck together on a dangerous flight from the evil which will stop at nothing to silence Kailyn. A promise to Aaron's dying father, a US Marshal, keeps Aaron bound to protecting Kailyn with all means at his disposal. He heads back to his roots in the Southwest, taking Kailyn and her small dog to the Navajo Nation where he was born. With contracts out on both their lives, they must evade the ever-approaching danger and learn to deal with the differences between the two of them. But will those differences, along with a growing respect and fondness, lead to something more? If they survive, is there a chance that their futures will be blessed by abiding faith and lasting love? Readers will also greatly enjoy "Beneath a Navajo Moon" from author Lisa Carter.

The search for a woman who disappeared in 1906 has lead cultural anthropologist Erin Dawson to Cedar Canyon, where the iconic terrain of red rock walls and mesas keep Navajo traditions--and maybe criminal evidence--well hidden. When Erin's search leads her to cross paths with tribal policeman Adam Silverhorn, it's hardly love at first sight. But everywhere she turns, Adam is already there.

Fighting their feelings for each other, the two are suddenly thrust into a battle far more dangerous--a common quest to rout an insidious drug cartel that has spawned the recent rise in gang violence on the reservation. Adam's position of authority gives Erin a rare glimpse into Navajo life few outsiders like her ever see--and into a crime ring that no one dares to imagine. As danger mounts, Adam and Erin begin to wonder if they will live to tell how they really feel.

MY REVIEW:  The more I read of "Beneath a Navajo Moon", from author Lisa Carter, the more involved I became with the spiritual and emotional and physical challenges facing the characters. While the book features a strong, intelligent heroine, it was the troubled and tormented hero who really drew me into the story line. Erin Dawson, a graduate student working on her doctoral dissertations, has come to Cedar Canyon, Arizona to research her heart's quest. Long fascinated with the partial history of Olivia Thornton, a teacher at the Cedar Canyon Mission School in the early 1900's, Erin is determined to unearth the complete truth about the woman who haunts her thoughts. As the legend was told, Olivia was captured by a Navajo warrior, Silver Eagle, on the day the Navajos came to release their children who were forced to attend the Christian mission school. Lives were lost and the school never reopened, and Olivia lived among the Navajo for a time before being reunited with her own people. However, a great love had grown between Olivia and Silver Eagle, and eventually, she returned to the West to look for him. Erin could not rest until she found out if the unlikely sweethearts had found a happy-ever-after. Adam Silverhorn is a Navajo tribal policeman, a native son torn between the strong pull of the past, and the modern-day threat of the criminal element thriving in the Navajo Nation. Adam is handsome, charismatic, and the grandson of Hershal Begay, a tribal leader who operates on his own side of the law, fueled by his hatred of the white people and their government. Hershal's greatest desire is to turn Adam to his twisted way of thinking, and to have Adam leave law enforcement behind and take over the Begay empire. Meeting Erin, a woman of faith and compassion, has Adam longing for a different kind of life--and his feelings are shared by Erin. More than cultural differences are keeping them apart--Adam is secretly working undercover to bring down a meth lab being run on tribal land, and must act his role of playboy and bad boy until his assignment is complete. Adam tries to stay away from Erin, but her sweet strength and spirituality call out to his needy soul. Their connection proves to a dangerous one, and enemies are all around them--enemies who are all too ready to keep them apart at any cost. Will an abiding faith and a lasting love bloom in the midst of great turmoil and tribulation? Will Adam and Erin, and those they hold dear, survive and find a future of peace and fulfillment? "Beneath a Navajo Moon" is a compelling and suspenseful inspirational romance which touches on many thought-provoking issues.

When Linden Birchfield arrives in the Snowbird Cherokee community to organize the 180th commemoration of the Trail of Tears, she runs head on—literally—into arrogant former army sniper Walker Crowe. A descendant of the Cherokee who evaded deportation by hiding in the rugged Snowbird Mountains, Walker believes no good can result from stirring up the animosity with the white Appalachian residents whose ancestors looted the tribal lands so long ago.

Though at odds over the commemoration, Linden and Walker must unite against an unseen threat to derail the festival. Together they face an enemy whose implacable hatred can be traced to the events of the Trail, a dark chapter in America’s westward expansion. When called to resurrect his sniper abilities, Walker must thwart the enemy who threatens the modern-day inhabitants of tiny Cartridge Cove—and targets the woman who has captured his heart.

MY REVIEW:  The "Vines of Entanglement" are tangled, twisted, and tenacious in author Lisa Carter's follow-up work to "Carolina Reckoning". In this inspirational romantic suspense tale, young widow Laura Mabry is rebuilding life for herself and her son. A year has passed since the death of her husband, Holt. Their ten-year-old son, Ian, acts out his grief by being difficult and resentful. With Ian away on a fishing trip with friends, Laura heads out for a run with their dog, and to her horror, she discovers the dead body of her own store employee. The killer is still lurking, however, and he attacks Laura, who manages an escape when someone else comes along the trail. To Laura's dismay, the homicide detective who arrives to investigate the crime scene is the former love of her life, Jon Locklear. Neither Laura nor Jon had realized that they were both back on home territory--their breakup so many years ago had been shattering in its bitterness. As young lovers, they were forced apart by familial control and societal conventions. Now, brought together again in the face of senseless tragedy, the two of them must face what they left behind so long ago. Jon senses Laura is hiding something, and he's right. Laura has a carefully guarded secret, and when the truth is revealed, many lives will be forever affected. Can the love which began in youth come full circle and mature into the love of a lifetime? Will truth and renewed faith cleanse old wounds, unite yearning hearts, and forge a future of unexpected happiness? Can new-found hope and honesty be strong enough to stop a killer in his tracks?
