Andy Kravis

Andy Kravis is a puzzlemaker, editor, and writer living in Brooklyn, NY. Since 2011, his puzzles have been published in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, and many other publications. He published his first book of puzzles, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!: 100 LARGE-PRINT WORD SEARCHES, in 2019.

Andy co-founded the Indie 500 crossword tournament, which is held annually in Washington, D.C. and which features the work of up-and-coming puzzlemakers. He currently works as a proofreader for the New York Times crossword department, and he edits for the variety crossword website Outside the Box Puzzles. He also co-teaches a crossword-making class with the Jewish Association Serving the Aging in New York.

Andy is also a game show veteran, having appeared on Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, and Million Second Quiz.

Andy has a B.A. from the University of Michigan in Women's Studies and English, as well as a J.D. from Columbia Law School.
