Bride of the Beast (MacKenzie, #2)

Bride of the Beast (MacKenzie, #2)  by  Sue-Ellen Welfonder

In this historical romance, Sue-Ellen Welfonder delivers a sensual tale set in medieval Scotland about a young woman in need of a champion - and finding one in a heroic, scarred warrior.

Twice wed and twice widowed, Lady Caterine Keith has no need for a champion. She can fend off unwanted suitors on her own and guard her Scottish stronghold without the help of any man. But her sister, knowing better, sends a make-believe husband a knight with a battle-scarred face almost too frightening to behold. Sir Marmaduke Strongbow has a secret ambition. He wants not Caterine's land but her hand in marriage and her heart to own. With tantalizing caresses, he will show her how a real champion lays siege...and how love is impossible to fight.

Devil in a Kilt (MacKenzie, #1)

Devil in a Kilt (MacKenzie, #1)  by Sue-Ellen Welfonder

Honorable Mention as The Historical Romance Club's Favorite Historical Romance of the Year for 2003

A fiery angel, a coldhearted devil, and a marriage hotter than hell!

Linnet MacDonnell was the youngest of seven sisters, and not the family beauty. With her flame-bright red hair, sharp tongue, and strange gift of second-sight, no man wanted her. But the devil would take her. Bartered as a bride to her father's long-sworn enemy, the nobly born Highlander Duncan MacKenzie of Kintail, she had no choice but to enter a marriage with a man rumored to have murdered his first wife and said to possess neither heart nor soul.

Forbidding and proud, Duncan MacKenzie wanted only one thing from his new bride—to use her special gift to determine if young Robbie was truly his son. He never expected the MacDonnell lass to stubbornly follow her heart, chase away the darkness in his castle with light and laughter, and ignite a raging fire in his blood. How dare she defy him, and tempt a devil like him to feel what he feared most of all—love!

From an exciting new voice in romantic fiction comes a story as tempestuous, colorful, and passionate as medieval Scotland itself...Devil in a Kilt.

A Highlander's Temptation (MacKenzie, #7)

A Highlander's Temptation (MacKenzie, #7)
by Sue-Ellen Welfonder

Darroc MacConacher spends sleepless nights dreaming of a raven-haired beauty who makes him ache with desire. Then his dream comes true: the lady with her lush curves and fair skin appears shipwrecked on his shores. Darroc is immediately drawn to her strength and beauty, and from the moment she lays eyes on this powerful, broad-shouldered warrior, Lady Arabella MacKenzie knows she'll never want another man.

But theirs is a forbidden love. The MacKenzies drove the MacConachers from their lands and destroyed their honor. Now, Darroc can use this sapphire-eyed seductress to shatter his foes. Yet how can he deny the passion that burns between him and Arabella, and ruin the one woman who touches his very soul?

MY REVIEW:  "A Highlander's Temptation" by Sue-Ellen Welfonder is charming, funny, romantic and full of Highland heroism! Darroc MacConacher is such a sweet, strong hero! Gentle, yet very much a Highlander, ready to defend his land and his spirited fair lady. Arabella MacKenzie is the woman who haunts Darroc's dreams. He is stunned when she appears in person, the survivor of a shipwreck on the shores of his home. Their families are sworn enemies. Their attraction is intense. Darroc knows he can hold Arabella as a weapon against his foes, but it is she who has captured his heart! Sue-Ellen Welfonder is a true storyteller, and one who embodies the love of all things Scottish. When Sue-Ellen spins her Scottish tales of romance, mysticism, and brave, brawny men and their lovely ladies, you will be swept away!

Sue-Ellen Welfonder is a card-carrying Scotophile whose burning wish to make frequent (free) trips to the land of her dreams led her to a twenty year career with the airlines. Bi-lingual, she flew international all those years, working her flights as foreign language speaker. Her flying career allowed her to see the world, but it was always to Scotland that she returned.

Now a full-time writer, she’s quick to admit that she much prefers wielding a pen to pushing tea and coffee. She spent fifteen years living in Europe and used that time to explore as many castle ruins, medieval abbeys, and stone circles as possible. Anything ancient, crumbling, or lichened caught her eye. She makes annual visits to Scotland, insisting they are a necessity as each trip gives her inspiration for new books.

Proud of her own Hebridean ancestry, she belongs to two clan societies: the MacFie Clan Society and the Clan MacAlpine Society. In addition to Scotland, her greatest passions are medieval history, the paranormal, and dogs. She never watches television, loves haggis, and writes at a four-hundred-and-fifty year old desk that once stood in a Bavarian castle.

Sue-Ellen is married and currently resides with her husband and Jack Russell Terrier in Florida. Readers can learn more about her and the world of her books at: www.welfonder.com

Some Like it Kilted by Allie Mackay

A woman's heart needs a loving home--

Even if it's a little bit haunted.

Mindy Menlove lives in a castle that was transported stone-by-stone from Scotland. But when her fiancé dies in scandal and Mindy decides to sell the gloomy estate, her plans unravel. She must travel to the Hebrides, where she's confronted by the castle's original builder-who happens to be maddeningly irresistible and seven hundred years young.

Bran of Barra was a legendary chieftain. Since then he's enjoyed his ghostly pleasures, until Mindy's appearance disrupts them. Now, if the roguish Bran doesn't change Mindy's mind about his bonny homeland-and himself-neither of them will ever find any peace.

MT REVIEW:  Author Allie Mackay provided me with a delightful treat of a read in "Some Like it Kilted"! Written with sexy supernatural style and great humor, this book made me smile from the first page to the very end. Who could resist a big, brawny and boldly beautiful Highland hunk such as Bran of Barra! I couldn't--and neither could the spirited heroine, Mindy Menlove! With his auburn hair, blue eyes, and unabashedly potent masculinity, Bran made us both his conquests. Never mind that he is a seven hundred years old ghost! When Mindy's faithless fiance dies, she unexpectedly inherits his estate, an ancient Scottish castle that was dismantled in Scotland and reconstructed in Pennsylvania. Mindy's plans to sell the castle are thwarted by an angry clan of Highland haunts who want their home restored to its rightful setting. Persuaded by their threats to make her life miserable with their ghostly visitations, Mindy agrees to restore the castle to the Scottish shores. When she meets the most disturbing spirit of all, Bran of Barra, he is not a nightmare. He is a passionate dream come true--in the flesh! Bran has the ability to materialize in human form, and the feelings he stirs in Mindy are out of this world! Can this medieval chieftain, who has long presided over his own ghostly realm, and this modern-day, all-too-human woman find a way to live and love together? Allie Mackay will charm you into believing anything is possible! I look forward to the reading the sequel, "Must Love Kilts" which features the story of Mindy's sister, Margo. I know that I am in store for another reader's treat!
