MY REVIEW:  When it says "Better Homes and Gardens", I know it will be good--very, very good! "Better Homes and Gardens: 365 Comfort Foods" offers a wide variety of classic and contemporary food favorites, taking into account the cultural mix of flavors and traditions that we think of as "comfort foods". From breakfast on through to dessert, you'll enjoy seeing familiar recipes plus new dishes you've always wanted to try. The recipes are user-friendly and feature easily-obtained ingredients, many of which you will already have on hand. The chapter featuring healthy versions of classic comfort-style dishes makes them lighter without using artificial ingredients. The "30-Minute Meals" may use fewer ingredients and make quick work of preparation and cooking time, but they certainly don't cut short the flavor. There are helpful cooking tips spread throughout the pages, and the tempting photos of the prepared foods definitely look good enough to eat. Here's a sampler of the delicious recipes you'll find: "Flaky Buttermilk Biscuits with Sausage Gravy"; "Pumpkin Pancakes"; "Bacon-Cheddar Cheese Ball"; "Homemade Kettle-Style Corn"; "Flat-Iron Steak with BBQ Beans"; "Pear-Cranberry Deep Dish Pie"; "Pork Chop Casserole"; "Deep-Dish Chicken Potpie"; "Cheese and Vegetable Rice Casserole"; "Butternut Squash and Carrot Soup"; "Ham and Bean Soup"; "Fork-Tender Pot Roast"; "Red Beans and Rice"; "Cherry Cola Ham"; "Loaded Creamed Corn with Tomato and Bacon"; "Rustic Garlic Mashed Potatoes"; "Swiss Steak"; "Apple-Stuffed Pork Chops"; "Chicken-Fried Steak"; "Trout Almondine"; "Pan-Fried Fish"; "Rosemary-Roasted Vegetables"; "Creamy Broccoli Salad"; "Fried Green Tomatoes"; "Sour Cream Pound Cake"; "Buttermilk Pie"; and "Big Soft Ginger Cookies".
