One Special Night
Reunited for the first time since "Victor/Victoria", Academy Award winner Julie Andrews and Emmy Award winner James Garner portray two strangers who take refuge in a small cabin during a stormy winter night and, despite their differences, or perhaps because of them, they are undeniably drawn to one another in this holiday classic that demonstrates once again the charisma that has made them two of the world's most beloved stars.
MY REVIEW ***5 STARS***
There is one holiday movie that deserves special mention. It's a "Mom & Me''
movie--one that we both gave a high rating and really enjoyed watching
together--and that makes it extra-memorable.
"One Special Night", with James Garner and Julie Andrews, is a beautifully
poignant film that shows that the suffering, sadness, and sacrifice that comes
when a loved one becomes ill may ultimately be replaced with a renewed joy in
living. Even those in the later years of their life may find a second chance for
love and happiness. James Garner and Julie Andrews were great friends, and they
had onscreen magic. I have loved James Garner since I was a little girl, and
even though this film was made when he was older, he was vibrant, masculine,
charming and still the one and only Big Jim. This film is superb on all
levels--and it makes you crave chocolate-chip pancakes!
James Garner stated that Julie Andrews was his favorite leading lady--it shows!
